SEPTEMBER!
This was the month of the accomplishments, get-togethers, XC flights and more. We just wish we had more months like this September every year!

THE ANTI-TROPHY IS BACK!
That's right! Caesar Creek flew back the anti-trophy on September 11th. Nyal Williams, the creator of the concept is happy to see the thing back. The metal challenge encouraged a XC flight, just as it was meant to do. Now we have to take it out of here again.

FIRST SOLO
Dan DeWitt flew hist first glider solo also on September 11th. His endorsing instructor was Dale Igram. See Dale change of color in the before-and-after picture. And look at Dan! Doesn't he look bigger? Congratulations Dan!

COOK-OUT
On that same day, the club held a cook-out, with many members bringing their families and even their pets. Chris Carpenter baked an "upside-down" pineapple cake (delicious) and Pete Detore grilled sausages, hamburgers and some stakes. See more pictures on page 2.

NEW PRIVATE GLIDER PILOT
On September 22nd, after a very interesting Practical Test, yours truly obtained his Private Glider Pilot Certificate. It was a nice day for all the right reasons. Read a little article I wrote about it on page 4.

NEW MEMBERS
We have a new Family Member(s)!
Bob Browning has SEL Private and Instrument ratings but has lost his physical due to illness. Bob's wife Sandy, holds an SEL Private rating and is working on her Instrument rating. They came to soaring so that Bob can return to flying. Bob has had an Introductory Lesson and has submitted a full Application which I just received. Please welcome Bob and Sandy when you meet them.

WELCOME BACK!
Mike Hutchison (note the different spelling and pronunciation from Dick) left us for a few years for a stint in Georgia. He has returned, although not as close as the 5 miles he enjoyed when we were at Terry. Mike, Kathy, and Kirsten now reside in Columbus. It is a pleasure to have you back, Mike!

PRACTICAL TEST LESSON
Craig Bixby has written an article about his Practical test. His test was also "interesting". This is a great chance to learn from someone else's experience. See page 3 for Craig's article.

SECOND 2+ HOURS
Mike and Cheryl Beckage spent September accumulating flight time in the PW-5, accumulating takeoffs and landings, and chasing the Bronze badge. Both have their 2x 2hours already in the bag and even their silver altitudes! Only the spot landings need still be accomplished. Surely in October.

ANOTHER SECOND 2+ HOURS
I also got my second 2+ hours. Mike, Cheryl and Gerry...look out! I'm right behind you.

2500 TOWS
Sometime in September Bob Currie had his 2500th tow in the Pawnee's. Cungratulations Bob! That is as many 'toes' as 500 feet.

FIRST PICTURES OF THE TURNPOINTS
The first pictures of the tiny triangle turnpoints are here! September 19th, Ron Clarke invited me to be his glider ballast. I brought the camera with me, and among many other pictures, I took the pictures of the turnpoints. See them in page 5.

I WANT YOU
To write an article for this newsletter. And send pictures if you have them. Please send them to me by October 15th.

THANKS
To Craig Bixby for his article (page 3 in this issue.)
To Ron Clarke for the picture (the double victory sign) and for the photography ride in the Grob
To Nyal Williams for his article (page 7 in this issue.)
