Membership
Notes
Late
last month the CISS board voted for two important items that all members
need to be aware of.
1) All Guest Introductory
Flights will be billed at $75.00. The only exception will be for qualifying
power pilots using the "Try Soaring Program," see the brochures in the
Flight Log Clipboard or "Gray Box" if you need more information. Be sure
to turn in their coupon with their waiver and funds for their flight.
2) The Initiation
fee has been temporarily reduced to $200.00 for New Regular and Family
Members who join prior to October 30, 2003. This is in support of our
membership drive, which also includes promotion in the Weekend Section
of the Indianapolis Star and an ad in the North and West suburban section
Thursday August 21st. This may be repeated again later.
Jeff Melin
Welcome
New Members
Louis "Smokey"
Medeiros, son Mik, and daughter Amy
You may have already met Smokey and Mik. Smokey is both a former USAF
pilot and co-worker of Ron Clarke's. Smokey is quick to help out on crew
while Mik is receiving flight instruction. Hopefully, Amy and Smokey will
get in the cockpit in the future. The Medeiros family lives in Carmel
near Don Taylor who has volunteered to be their Mentor.
Mark O'Leary
Again you may have already met Mark at the field as he has also started
his Transition to Glider training. Mark holds a Private Pilot Certificate
with SEL rating with about 100 hours. Mark is tall, 6'3", so makes no
bones in saying he cannot wait to get into the Grob. Mark lives in Zionsville
and is employed at Rolls Royce as a Mechanical Engineer working in Stress
Analysis. Dave Newill, also at Rolls Royce, will be Mark's Mento.
Carey Rehmel
Carey comes to us well-prepared, he already belongs to SSA and has a Commercial
Pilot Certificate with SEL, MEL, and INST Ratings. He has logged 280 hours.
Carey is an Electrical Engineer and works at Daimler Chrysler in Kokomo.
Scot Ortman who also works in Kokomo, will be Carey's Mentor. Please help
in welcoming all of these new Members. Jeff Melin.
