NEXT CLUB MEETING: OCTOBER 17, 2002 7:00 P.M. LEPPERT & HENSLEY, CARMEL

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

A service for George Mitten, who lost his life on September 25, 2002, will be held on October 6 at our new hangar at Terry Airport.

Those of you who knew George are aware of his expertise in aviation and his zest for life.
Therefore, in accordance with his wishes, this gathering will be a remembrance celebration
of the good things in life.

Please join us for a slide show, photos of Gorge, a biography of his accomplishments,
George's favorite banjo music, and light refreshments. Friends will be encouraged to recount anecdotes and memories.

Please come by on Sunday, October 6, from 1:00 to 4:00 at the new hangar to honor our good friend.

FREEDOM DAY

In an effort to say "Thank You" to all who helped in the effort to get approval for building the new hangar, Dan and Andi Montogmery are having a Pig Roast on Saturday, October 26th. They are calling it "Freedom Day", and would like all to attend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB!
Happy birthday and many more to CFIG Bob Gillan who turned 86 years young this past August. Little did he know that his soaring family would surprise him with a little party. Thanks Bob for all you do!
END OF SEASON ACCOLADES
As the 2002 soaring season draws to a close, a few members have decided to get busy. Congratulations to Andrew Churchill and Bill Ellison, pictured below, for completing their solo flights. Belated congrats also to Mike Beckage who completed his solo back in June - sorry so late Mike! Also... surprise, surprise...Keith Marshall finally accomplished his checkride for Private Pilot Glider. Better late than never!

CFIGs Nyal Williams and Larry Pennington congratulate Bill Ellison after his solo flight.

A BELATED WELCOME
Please welcome Aaron Trafford to CISS. Aaron has been flying for a month or more while your Membership Chair was having a senior nap. I met Aaron and his Mom at the field weekend before last. Aaron is 15 and lives in Lebanon. Jonathan Sullivan will be Aaron's Mentor. Please welcome Aaron and help get him started on the road to his Private Pilot Certificate! His home phone number is 765-336-9586 and email is: diablo_2000_lamborghini@yahoo.com. Good luck Aaron on getting your pilot's certificate and the Lamborghini. But, try to stay focused on the Pilot Certificate. Your chances there are a lot higher!
