CISS
Glider Ground School?
I am evaluating the
interest and support for a Glider Ground School for CISS members this
winter. The ground school covers topics that are tested on the FAA knowledge
test for Private and Commercial Glider and provide a review for others.
Individuals who are considering obtaining their Glider CFI would benefit
from attending and giving some of the clasroom presentations. Usually
the class is conducted on Saturdays, in the morning, for about 8 weeks.
I would speculate that this would be January 10 through February 28, 2004.
There is normally no charge for the class except for reimbursement of
the instructor for handout materials.
Topics are:
Federal Aviation Regulations
Basic Aerodynamics
Glider Systems
Glider Performance
Weight and Balance
Glider Maneuvers
Basic Weather
METARS
Navigation
National Airspace System
Medical Factors
Aeronautical Decision Making/Judgment
I am able to use the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University classroom facility
over near Indianapolis International Airport. I need to know:
1. Who is interested and willing to attend the majority of the classes?
(I know circumstances will preclude many folks from attending all of the
classes.)
2. Which CFIs or future CFIs can be available to assist in teaching one
or more class? Which Class(es) would you desire to instruct?
Reply to me as soon as possible so that we can make the decision and get
the work started if we are to have the class.
