Remembering
The Greencastle Away Weekend
I had an interesting
and perhaps unique experience during our away weekend at Greencastle.
The radio and pattern traffic was exceeding thick as I was completing
a passenger flight in the Grob. I had spoilered down to prevent motion
sickness in the passenger when I heard Scot Ortman announce a real rope
break and that he would be landing downwind. I could not thermal down
low because of the traffic and the queasy-feeling passenger. So, I had
to face the possibility of landing and running over my own glider with
my partner in it!

WAY
TO GO SCOT!
On Friday, September
12, Scot Ortman gave it a go and set off for an O/R to Kokomo . The day
was tough - very poor visibility , weak lift under maybe every 4th cloud,
and a deteriorating sky! Undaunted he kept going - I elected to land and
de-rig . As we were ready to leave the field ( only kidding we were going
to wait on word as to where he was) he rolled up in a car . After landing
at Glendale (Kokomo) he bummed a ride back home . Way to go Scot!
