YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU THIS JUNE!
Return to Kitty Hawk Transcontinental Glider Race
If you haven't already heard, there is a major cross country glider race making a stop at our very own Terry Airport sometime during June 27, 28 and 29, 2003.
This event is a ten-leg gliding race with approximately 50 competitors, both national & international in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers flight. The race begins in the Los Angeles area on June 17, 2003 & finishes at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina on July 4, 2003. The competitors are scheduled to complete a leg of the race in Indianapolis the weekend of June 28th. This will be a major event for the club. A committee has been created and a plan of action is in place. Many will be needed to help park support vehicles, direct traffic, move gliders off of the runway, etc. Tentatively the gliders are scheduled to arrive on Saturday the 28th with a spaghetti supper by our very own chef Peter Detore being served at Dan's hangar in the evening. The following morning, Dan is hosting a pancake breakfast. The grid will then be staged sometime around 11a.m. and begin departure between then and 2p.m. A NOTAM to close the airport to traffic for the event will be issued. WE NEED YOUR HELP! There will be much for all to do. Please contact either Ron Clarke (317-849-8983), Jeff Melin (317-581-2638), Darren Bedwell
(765-483-0389), Brad Hays (317-877-0599, Dave Newill (317-873-2262) Peter Detore (765-759-7972) or Keith Marshall (317-862-6606) and ask where you can be of service.

Club Meetings...Where and When?
Looking for an opportunity to learn more about your club? Then come to the CISS general membership meetings held every third Thursday of the month all year long - exceptions being holidays, etc. The meetings begin 7:00p.m. at Leppert and Hensley Mortuary located 900 North Rangeline Road in Carmel (U.S. 31 North to Rangeline Rd. and turn right. Leppert and Hensley is about a half mile down on your right). Aside from being a quiet place - for obvious reasons - the facility has a nice downstairs social room with lots of room, comfortable chairs, AV equipment and restrooms. Network with fellow club members, learn soaring safety or techniques, hear a great program or catch up on some great fish stories - er, uh - soaring stories. This is your opportunity to be heard and tell the club what you think could make the club better for everyone. See you June 19th at Leppert and Hensley.

Be sure not to miss the next meeting program by Nyal Williams. Nyal will be speaking on the history of patterns, the history of glider patterns, how our patterns differ from powered aircraft patterns, how they are actually different from they way we say they are, and why, and an analysis of how we should use patterns.
New CISS Chariot
Getting to and fro has always been a problem at Terry on foot. Well walk no further! The board approved the purchase of a handy golf cart to shuttle weary passengers about. Hey Mike, do we need rating to pilot this thing?
No notions of playing nine holes while on crew duty please!
