PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

CLUB MEETING, MAY 16, 7:00 P.M.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 16, at 7:00 P.M. for something to help take your minds off of 2 inch rainfalls and 30 kt winds out of 27. Plan on coming out to the May club meeting at Leppert & Hensley on N. Rangeline Road in Carmel to hear the news of the club and to enjoy Dick Hutchinson's video that he has created from movie film shot from 1962 to 1976. Whether you are an oldie of the club or a newbie, this should be a great trip for all! The events that Dick has on his tape are as follows:

  • 1962 - Dayton Soaring Club at Richmond Municipal Airport - Terry Airport
  • 1963 - Dale Cunnlngham's L-Spatz - C.I.S.S. Schweizer 1-19 - Jim Graham's first flight in homebuilt Baby Mustang. George Mace and Clarence Walker's homebuilt .towing Stinson L-5 towplane back to hangar after off.field landing
  • 1964 - Stinson L-5 rebuild at Anderson, Ind. - Terry Airport. winch launch - C.I.S.S. first 1-26
  • 1966 - Dayton Soaring Club Meet at Richmond, Ind. Municipal Airport. Jim Ross's Weihe - Terry Airport. Hil Hardy's "new" L-Spatz. EAA at Whitestown-Halsmer Airport, Lafayette. Dick Schreder's HP-14 - Terry Airport. Thomson's Ka-6
  • 1967 - Terry Airport 2-22 recover. Some fun in the 2.22. Various airplanes at Terry - staggerwing Beech, Ed Wolf's Citabria, Jack Mills biplane, Ed Wolf's biplane.
  • 1969 -Terry Airport maintenance hangar construction
  • 1970 - Halsmer Airport at Lafayette -Terry Airport. 2-22 minor wing repair. Deitchman in 1-26
  • 1971- Terry Airport -Lebanon Airport -Terry Airport.
  • 1972 -Terry Airport. 2-22 off.field landing and retrieve
  • 1973 -Terry Airport. Smirnoff Sailplane Derby
  • 1974- Terry Airport. Getting 1-26 ready to take to Lawrenceville, Il. for recover. Putting Bill Hargrove's 1-26 on trailer at Glendale after being on display - Terry Airport. Thomson's ASW 15
  • 1975 -Terry Airport. Club's first 2-33. George Mace's homebuilt powerplane
  • 1976 - Terry Airport. 2-22 after painting fuselage prior to selling. John Dean landing Nugget gear up. Don Boyer's first flight in HP-18.

This should be a 'reel' highlight of our club's earlier years, and a lot of fun to watch. Hope to see you there!

REGION 6 SOUTH CONTEST HELD AT CAESAR CREEK

Caesar Creek Soaring Club is hosting the SSA Region 6 South Contest on August 24 –30, 2002. Classes will be Standard, 15 Meter and Sports. Some things You Need To Know:

  • No flying permitted without sailplane registration papers, SSA membership and proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance.
  • This is a datalogger only contest. You are responsible for making sure that your flight can be downloaded into the official SSA scoring program. Check their CCSC website for the latest in turnpoint data. This will also be available for download on the practice day.
  • The entry fee is $150. Tows will be charged separately at $30 each. Entries not received before June 27 will be charged a $50 surcharge. Cancellations must be received before August 11 to be fully refunded.
