prepares for launch. "Where ya goin' this time Ron?"
|
Some
things are best served chilled. At least that is how it
seemed
as the 2002 CISS season got off to a clean, but cold start.
There
were 26 flights for the day. The lift was good going up to 4 to
5 thousand MSL and then tapering off. Those returning from their
flights complained of frosty toes, but all smiled at getting back
into the swing of things for another fun year. Club president
Tom Ruble was making slushies for any takers from his tail
ballast tank after his 2 + hr. flight.

| First
official DO Kurt Ristow barks, "Anybody want to fly a
glider?" |
There
were also some new terms being thrown around such as DO, ADO,
SG, PG, HS, CM and GT otherwise know as Director of Operations,
Assistant Director of Operations, Student Glider Pilot, High School
Student, Commercial Pilot and Glider Transition from Power. A
new crew rotation plan developed by Operations Director Dave
Newill is being put to the test. So far so good Dave! Be sure
to thank him for all his hard work.
Have a fun, exciting and safe year!
