Thank
You Bob Gillan For All You Do!
Bob
Gillan was recognized and given a special award "in abstentia". Chief
Instructor Pilot, Mike
Rielage, tried to obtain the award in time for the birthday party that
was done last year for Bob. Unfortunately it could not get done in time,
hence, the delayed "birthday" present. Coincidently, Mike reported that
Bob had written to share an award he had received from SSA, Region 6.
For the third year, Bob Gillan had been recognized as the "most active
badge instructor" for the region. As is common with Bob, he wrote that
the club members who support the flying, ground crew, IPs, maintenance,
tow pilots, were the true recipients of the award. Since Bob was not able
to attend the Banquet due to the weather, a number of club members who
had been soloed and trained by Bob came front and center to accept for
him. The "birthday present" is a wooden plaque with a brass plate, engraved
with the images of Robert Lee Gillan's initial Private pilot Certificate
issued by the Civil Aeronautics Administration on August 25, 1941. Thank
you Bob Gillan for all the lessons of soaring and of life that you have
provided to us.
