Airport Harassment continued

neighbors have requested a hearing to revoke that permit which will be held on March 27, 2002, at 7:00 P.M. at the Boone Co. Fairgrounds, 1300 East 100 South, Lebanon. Dan and Andi also advise that the homeowners ran a full-page ad in the Zionsville paper to solicit support against the airport hangar construction.

They have asked that as many of our club be present as possible. They will be there at 6:30 to hand out buttons for those who support the airport to wear.

If you cannot attend, but would prefer to send a letter, they

2001 CISS AWARDS BANQUET
by Terry Dickey, VP

The 2001 Awards Banquet at Five Seasons was a success once more and was very well attended this year by members, spouses, and guests. For the third year at Five Seasons we all enjoyed a pleasant dinner and evening with friends
Jim Pitcher speaks about the benefits of owning your own gliderport.

Our "Guest of Honor " was Jim Pitcher of Silver Creek
Soaring Club. He presented to the attendees a timeline of the their clubs activities leading to the purchase of their own glider port. While showing many slides of his club he accentuated the commitment , sacrifices and joys of private glider port ownership. What Silver Creek discovered since the glider port was founded that the club has enjoyed a greater sense of ownership , pride and an increased amount of family participation.

Included in the program was a tribute to the past John Dean. The son and daughter in law of John and Barbara
Dean attended as our guests. Those who did not have the pleasure of knowing John they learned that he flew P-47’s, began soaring in the early fifties, ultimately competed in his beloved ASW-20 and was a two term President of CISS.
Martha Hudson receiving the Annual Merit Award from club president Tom Ruble for her outstanding job as Convention Chair for the 2001 SSA Convention.

John Masella receiving a certificate from Chief Instructor Mike Rielage for getting his private pilot glider license.
