PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE
VERY
IMPORTANT!
Dave Newill is holding our annual SAFETY MEETING on March 16 and
17. The reasons for attendance at this meeting don't need to be
stated, but please remember that the safety briefing is required
before regular flying.
Saturday,
March 16-Dave will attempt to obtain a meeting room in Dan's
large hangar from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. On Sunday, the briefing will
start at 9:00 A.M. in the club room. You only need to attend one
of these meetings.
Planning
a BFR this year? Then contact Mike Rielage and be at the field
on March 16 or 17. It really helps a lot if you can get this done
early so the instructors can concentrate on the students and crew
chiefs can run a normal schedule. Give Mike a call or email him
so he can plan accordingly.
This
is your chance to knock the winter rust off those muscles by helping
out with some work day activities. Dave has plenty to do and would
really appreciate seeing everyone there to help out.
The
2002 CISS Club Calendar has been updated. Please click on the
new calendar button on the web site, or see the attached flyer
if you do not have the internet. Contact me with any changes or
new information so we can keep it updated. If you see any activity
that interests you, please let us know!
See
you there!

HARASSMENT OF TERRY AIRPORT
As most
all are aware, some of the surrounding neighbors of Terry Airport
have made
it their prime objective to do all in their power to obstruct
the functioning of Terry Airport and I have no doubt to close
it, if they thought they could. Unfortunately, the old argument
of "I was here first" doesn't carry much weight with
many local officials who have their own agendas tied to vote
popularity. Many of these officials see only the bad things
that happen in aviation, and fail to understand the needs of
the entire system and the place of local airports as Terry in
the grand scheme of things. The 'neighbors' don't really care
about you as a pilot, and your rights, or whether you have been
flying from Terry for the last 30 years and they must moved
in. They have little, if any, understanding beyond what they
see and hear from their front window, and grandly just assume
that pilots will be there to fly them on their next ATA trip
to Cancun.
Dan
and Andi Montgomery were issued an improvement permit on 11-16-01
to build the current hangar as part of their plan to upgrade
the facilities at Terry. The
