Pieces - Historic Planes YOU can afford to BUY and FLY!
After
a year of research, legal work, and 1/2 a year's salary, Ginger Gordon
would like to announce to all Indianapolis area aviation groups and pilots,
the formation of Time Pieces, LLC. This company will specialize in offering
fractional shares in vintage, sport aviation aircraft.
The concept is easy. . . Pilots buy a share in the airplane and show up
to fly. Time Pieces handles everything else: hangar rent, insurance, acquisition
costs, maintenance, lists of quality instructors, state of the art scheduling
system, excise taxes, etc.
With 2 Piper Cubs already procured, Time Pieces will offer its first aircraft
for sale in the Indianapolis area (with plans to expand to other areas
soon). One of these airplanes was featured in the most recent painting
by aviation artist Sam
Lyons called "Golden Times". Here's a chance to own a plane
that will be seen around the world.
Each share in a Cub is valued at $3750 and permits the owner to 50 hours
of flying over a 2 year period. That's right . . . all you pay over the
2 year period is $3750. To ensure availability of your aircraft, each
plane will be limited to 10 share holders.
This is your chance to get your tail wheel endorsement, stay current with
your tail wheel flying, get back to the basics of stick 'n rudder flying,
learn about aircraft ownership, enjoy grass strips, take a friend to lunch,
attend a pancake breakfast, go to a fly-in, enjoy the wild blue yonder,
camp out under the wing, share your passion with friends and family, or
to feel the wind in your face as you enjoy a summer afternoon with the
cub door open. For answers to frequently asked questions and additional
information, please visit the website at www.IFlyTimePieces.com

Exceptional Soaring Conditions Produce Five U.S. Glider Record Claims
Wednesday
April 23, 2003 was a record setting soaring day on the Appalachian ridges
of the Eastern United States. A cold front passed through the area leaving
strong Northwesterly winds in its wake, with very windy and turbulent
flying conditions. Conditions were the strongest in years. U.S. and Canadian
pilots flying for records, badges, and personal bests recorded many long
cross-country glider flights.
Doug Haluza, 41, of Centerport, NY, and John D. Godfrey, 54, of Pittsburgh,
PA, claimed two U.S. national records for multiplace gliders: 750 km Out
and Return Speed at 109 km/h (68 mi/hr) and Free Three Turnpoint Distance
at 1136 km (706 mi). Total flight distance registered in the AeroKurier
Online Contest (OLC) was 1212 km (753 mi), or 1127 handicapped points,
making Doug's flight currently the best in the world this year in the
pure glider class. They flew Doug's 1979 Schempp-Hirth Janus C two-place
glider for 10h 47m non-stop. Doug is a Soaring Society of America Master
Cross-Country Flight Instructor, and this flight was conducted under the
SSA Master Instructor Cross Country Program. John currently holds a 500km
FAI diamond, and is working towards a 1000km FAI Diploma. Doug had set
one previous U.S. National Record for Free Out and Return Distance in
1997, and is a member and past president of the Long Island Soaring Association.
James L. (Jim) Price, 65, of Loveland, OH, flying his 2001 Schempp-Hirth
Discus 2 single-place glider, abandoned a declared 1,063 km triangle task
for the Barron Hilton Cup competition, but flew a total of 1165km (724
mi) up and down the ridges instead. Jim received 1065 OLC points for the
flight, making his flight 2nd best in the world this year in the pure
glider class. Jim currently has the best Hilton Cup flight for the 2002-2003
season in the Eastern U.S., flown around a declared 815 km triangular
course from Ridge Soaring on May 3, 2002. This was Jim's second flight
greater than 1000km. Jim is a member of the Caesar Creek Soaring Club.
Thomas L. (Tom) Knauff, 65, and Doris F. Grove (Husband and Wife) of Julian
PA, flying their 2001 Schempp-Hirth Duo Discus T two-place motorglider,
claimed U.S. national records for multiplace motorglider in 750 km O&R
Speed at 152.8 km/h (95 mi/hr), O&R Distance of 780 km (485 mi) and Free
Three Turnpoint Distance of 1,056 km (656 mi). Total flight distance,
including the trips to and from the start/finish points was 1,194 km (742
mi). Due to a GPS data logger error, they could only claim 1028 km in
the OLC, making this the 3rd best flight in the U.S. in the combined Motorglider
and Glider classes. Tom has set over 50 U.S. national records in the past
30 years. Doris was the first woman to fly more than 1000 km. Doris and
Tom are the owners of Ridge Soaring Gliderport.
