Glider Camp a Success Despite the Weather
The glider camp held May 12-16 met with great success even though the weather was marginal. The crew launched thirty-two flights, twenty-six of those were student flights. Students were Mike and Cheryl Beckage, Larry Kennedy, Jerry Simpson (welcome, Jerry!), and Dave Zola. Instructors were Dale Igram, Mike Rielage, and Nyal Williams. Tow Pilots were Bob Currie, Eric Decker, and Dale Igram. Thanks to all who made the camp a success!

A Really Good Weather Period
The week ending with Memorial day will be remembered by a number of CISS members as one of the very best for soaring so far this year . Memorial day saw a good turnout despite not being a scheduled crew day . Many very good flights were made in the club ships and many miles of cross-country flown. Bill Paris covered enough miles to claim his Silver Distance and Scott Ortmann, using only charts and a compass covered 171miles . Brad Hays , Chris Carpenter , Terry Wools and Kurt Ristow all made club contest flights. Ron Clarke flew the longest ever Out and Return flight from Terry - to Cushing,IL ( west of Chicago ) and back covering 321 miles .
