RETURN TO KITTY HAWK RACE IS UPON US AND YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
As most know Saturday June 28th is the day the fleet of gliders racing across America will fly into Terry Airport . It shall contain 11 legs stopping at as many gliderports along the way as possible. Stops include Las Vegas, Phoenix, Las cruces, Hobbs, Dallas, St. Louis, TERRY INDIANAPOLIS, Dayton, Roanoake, Petersburg, Manteo and then Kitty Hawk. Why a Transcontinental Glider Race? The Glider community feels it will be a great way to commemorate the 100 th anniversary of the Wright's first flight at Kitty Hawk. Weather permitting the 40 + gliders will arrive sometime after 3pm the afternoon of the 28th. Come on out and help and plan to join us all at "Pete's " Spaghetti Dinner that evening. Again, weather permitting the gliders will depart Sunday 12:00 noon for Caesar Creek,OH. A NOTAM will close the airport to traffic for 3 hours to allow the gridding and launch of the gliders about 11:00 am - 2:00pm. That morning Dan Montgomery will host a Pancake Breakfast - and would welcome a few good helpers to serve the meals - and enjoy the meal together with the racing pilots. As weather is the final determinant the event could be delayed by a day or two, so keep listening out for the final dates.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! There will be much for all to do. Please contact either Ron Clarke (317-849-8983), Jeff Melin (317-581-2638), Darren Bedwell (765-483-0389), Brad Hays (317-877-0599, Dave Newill (317-873-2262) Peter Detore (765-759-7972) or Keith Marshall (317-862-6606) and ask where you can be of service.

BE SURE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT THE GLIDERS COULD ARRIVE A DAY EARLIER AND LEAVE A DAY LATER DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER!

Dave Newill is running for SSA Region 6 director. Be sure to vote for Dave!
