The "Eagletown Store" restaurant turned into a training facility on Monday because of rain. Mike Rielage in a discussion with Bill Ellison, Zach Joice and Tom Eaton pictured above. Nyal Williams with Dale Igram and Mike Beckage below.

The CISS Glider Training Camp was planned for Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17.

Monday was a rain out, but the IPs and students met at the clubhouse and later moved to the Eagletown Store to eat and work on training plans. The day was still a success as almost four hours of required ground training were completed.

Tuesday was a good flying day. We completed 19 training flights.

Wednesday was also a good day. We conducted 25 launches, one for a private ship. Zach Joice, a power rated pilot, completed his solo in gliders and Terry Dickey completed his Flight Review.

A busy May schedule thwarted flying on Thursday.

Friday was relatively poor soaring conditions, but Nyal Williams completed 3 hours of ground training preparations and recommended Tom Eaton for his Commercial Glider practical test. We completed six training flights and shut down about 2 PM as rain showers returned to Terry Airport.

During the week, Keith Marshall completed most of the flying preparation for his Private Glider. Joe Romero, a shining new student pilot, suffered the joy and entertainment of his first several flights, and is still with us.

As usual, it was the hard work of a number of folks who took time to support the operation the made it happen.

Tow pilots, bless them! Dale Igram, Tony Johnson, Bob Currie, John Schlechte and Lynn Joyce. All made their ready to launch times, even when the weather and the rest of us were not quite prepared.

In the top picture, Zach Joice is ready for a training flight with Nyal Williams in the back while Tom Eaton, Mike Beckage and Bill Ellison stand by to crew. The bottom picture is Keith Marshall still going up above 5,000 MSL during a solo flight in N809S.

Instructors: Nyal Williams was there every day and kindly steered the ship when I was trying to play golf on Monday. Alex Gray, who was willing to cover my IP responsibilities on Monday. Larry Pennnington, who showed up and helped out Wednesday and Friday.

Others: Ron Clarke and Pete Detore provided moral and ground support a couple of days each.

Last, but not least, the folks who flew and provided the launch crews in conditions constrained by the soggy soil. Joe Romero, Bill Ellison, Keith Marshall, Mike Beckage, Tom Eaton, Terry Dickey and Andy Churchill. Without their interest and effort, nothing would have happened.

If I missed anyone, my apology.

I LOVE THIS CLUB ATTITUDE!
