NEXT CLUB MEETING: JANUARY 17, 2002 7:00 P.M. LEPPERT & HENSLEY, CARMEL

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The Relocation Committee has proceeded with evaluating many area airports and private strips. Mike Warren's update is on page 2. Give Mike a ring with any ideas, suggestions, concerns, etc.

If you haven't let Kurt Ristow know that you are attending the annual CISS Banquet, see the information that follows in this newsletter. There are still plenty of seats available to share in good times and learn who did what, and maybe what not, during 2001. Quite a few of your fellow members are involved this year in the planning for the banquet, and it appears that it should be a great one. The talk by Jim 'Pitch" Pitcher of Silver Creek should be worth more than the price of a ticket alone.

You will see that the shape of the WT changed a little. With many thanks to Pete Detore for his many years of WT editing - we must bid him adieu as he heads off into the sunrise flying the Grob. Yours truly tried his hand at this Issue - but you are more than welcome to direct any complaints to Pete. I just don't want him to feel lonely sitting up there in Yorktown yearning for warmer weather and cues.

We will have a club meeting this month, Thursday the 17th, at Leppert & Hensley, 7:00 P.M. I am still looking for that volunteer who would fill in as the program chair for the monthly meetings this year. Call now for this special offer. 849-7008. 849-7272. Or truble1@prodigy.net Thanks and see you on the 17th.

Darren Bedwell took this picture in April, 2001 from where did you say.....his back yard? Oh to just hop in the club motorglider and see what was on top!!! And for any who have not been out to the field to take a look at the new Pawnee - Darren caught Chris Murawski checking out the leather seats, heater, air conditioning, and built in refreshment center of our new N54898...

VINTAGE AIRCRAFT
FOR SALE

Bob Currie has advised that his glider is for sale - and that he would like to sell it to a club member if possible.

He has $12,300. in it but would deal a little with a club member if he could sneak a ride once in a while. If you are interested in keeping a beautiful old bird in the club (referring to the glider - Bob), contact him at

instability and just plain no longer in existence. Most of the committee have put a lot of miles on their vehicles and many hours, but none of us have come close to Mr. Ristow.

We are happy to inform you that we have found a suitable farm that will be going up for auction on 1/17. If the board approves, we will try to purchase the farm at our price. If it goes for more, we will keep looking.

We would like to invite you to meet us at the farm this Saturday, 1/12 at 10am. Most of the relocation committee will be there and available to answer questions.

The farm is located between Hobbs and Windfall on CR 100 N. It is just south of Windfall and about a half a mile west of 213 on 100 N. For those of you that are not familiar with Hobbs and Windfall, they are just east of Tipton. There is an auction sign at 213 and CR 100 N and a sign in the yard of the property.

If you have any doubt about our need to find a new home, go out to Terry and see the new jet hanger going in across the taxiway from our clubhouse.

As always keep your constructive ideas and suggestions coming. We are doing our best to cover every contingency but it will take all of us to make this work.

BALLOTS NEEDED

Last months WT had a ballot for club officers, and of great importance, for best crew award.

Please return your ballot so we can get a good count. If you need another ballot, let me know at

RELOCATION COMMITTEE MOVES FORWARD

The CISS Relocation Committee has been very busy over the past few months. We have looked at all of the existing airfields that we could find and that our members have brought to our attention. They include Alexandria, Roberts, Kokomo, Larsh, New Castle, Ellison, Knightstown, Cruzan, Heinzman, Irion, Baird-Wolford, Camel-Lot, Converse, Crawfordsville, Elwood, Glenndale, Pope, Reese, Tragessar and Wilcox. There were others and countless farms. The airfields were eliminated for a variety of reasons: unavailable to us, distance, runway length, obstacles, purchase price, political
