THERE WILL NOT BE A DECEMBER MEETING DUE TO THE HOLIDAYS
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!

SSA CONVNENTION
Don't forget that the 2003 Air Sports Expo/SSA Convention is just across the border in neighboring Dayton, Ohio January 23-25. It is only around a two to two and a half hour drive. You can be sure there will be activities at the Air Force Museum. If you have never been to a convention, this is a great opportunity to learn more about the sport of Soaring.

BANQUET NEWS

Currently the annual CISS banquet is slated for February 22, 2003. This is in lieu of the SSA Convention in Dayton in January. Stay tuned for details!

THE WINTER PROJECT IS PROGRESSING SMOOTHLY

Thanks to a goodly number of dedicated and moderately skilled (just kidding) members the big winter project to repaint Blanik 809S is progressing very well. Both wings have now been completely stripped and are almost ready for painting.

Next we tackle the fuselage and tail areas. With any luck at all the glider should be ready for the new paint scheme early in the new year.

If you are looking for a chance to help the club keep maintenance costs down and if you would like to come on out to the toasty warm club hangar and swap hangar stories ( the more incredible ones may possibly be lies ! ) AND help with the winter project feel free to come on out 9:00 am any Saturday.

Many thanks to those who have help so far with our winter project: Dave Newill, John Dittrich, Dick Hutchinson, Don Taylor , Bill Carr, Chris Carpenter, Brad Hays, Bill Paris (All the way from Franklin each week ), Keith and his son Seth Marshall, Charlie Epperson , Terry Wools, Mike and Cheryl Beckage , Jeff Melin and John Masella.

My apologies if I left anyone out , but that could be as a result of the paint stripper fumes! Please come out and join us. It is infinitely more fun than work.

Ron Clarke

The stripper works quite well at taking the paint off.

Wow! Amazing how shiny aluminum is after the paint is gone.
