NICE SUMMER!
The weather has been unexpectedly good, with good thermaling conditions at least once a weekend.
A couple of times we were able to have all club and all private planes in the air at the same time.
That's 11 planes! And if 303BA was available, we could have had 12.
Milestones accomplished regularly and progress by the students has been continuous.
Congratulations to all!
THE ANTI-TROPHY IS STILL IN OHIO
A pilot from Cesar Creek soaring club in Ohio visited us and took back the XC trophy.
No word about the anti-trophy.

And this nice article about CISS at the Indy Air Show.
Congratulations, congratulations Gerry!

Remember to use your aircraft registration number; contest numbers or letters do not qualify.

FIRST SOLO IN THE PW-5
Mike Beckage has been busy transitioning to the single seater since obtaining his private pilot license.
Well, he finally soloed in the PW-5. His first flight was a simple pattern around the airport.
His second flight was a nice, leisurely, relaxed 1+ hour soar in the skies of central Indiana.
Having fun yet Mike? Congratulations!
C BADGE AND 2+ HOURS
Cheryl Beckage came to the airport one Saturday feeling she had the right stuff.
After a long time obtaining all kinds of licenses and certificates but no badges, she decided it was finally time for her to
soar longer than an hour. With great in-flight help from Ron Clarke, she stayed airborne for exactly one hour, earning her C badge.
Two weeks later, she flew again and soared for more than 2 hours!
Bronze badge...here she comes!
Congratulations, congratulations Cheryl!

SECOND 2+ HOURS
Congratulations Gerry on your second 2hr flight towards your bronze badge!
AND SILVER ALTITUDE TOO
Right after my failed attempt to reach the 1000m altitude gain,
Gerry Simpson took the plane I had just flown and brought the barograph with him.
When he came down a little more than an hour later, his barogram showed an altitude gain of more than 1250!
That is an extra 25% just for good measure.
Congratulations Gerry.
FIRST FLIGHT IN HIS NEW PLANE
Ken Harry had been showing us his new plane for a while, but had not flown it yet.
August 14 he finally had all the right documents and was ready to fly his wooden bird.
And how it flies! I was up there too and could see that it DOES climb as the legend says.
Not only does it fly beautifully, it LOOKS beautiful.
Congratulations Ken!
