Safety Briefing (continued)

Altimeters - everyone flying into or out of Terry sets their altimeter to 922' for elevation. You should too! This way all our radio calls involving altitude will be ASL and we can look for each other more accurately.

The Pilot In Command is responsible for the aircraft - hence you should do the walk around before every flight. We have had damage from earlier flights not detected until the end of day. One case could have been a bit scary if the damage to an aileron had been worse.

Flight Safety Know your in flight tow signals! See the video! Go to the soaring society web site and take the Wing Runner Course - get the certificate! Go to www.soaringsafety.org or www.ssa.org and click on soaring safety. Please take the wing runner course - it may surprise you with the test! Most people do not get 100%! Check out the accident reports - read one and learn why it happened - then learn from that. Not pretty, but very instructive.
